Time-Dependent Corrosion Behavior of Aluminum Using Advanced Electrochemical and Characterization Techniques

نویسندگان

چکیده

The time-dependent corrosion behavior of pure aluminum (Al) in a chloride-containing environment was investigated using various electrochemical and characterization techniques for up to 336 h. Transmission electron microscopic secondary ion mass spectroscopic analysis revealed the continuous dissolution surface film over immersion time. In meantime, increasing passive oxide thickness resulted resistance enhancement time, as indicated by impedance analysis. noise measurements showed an increase kinetics with time until 60 h because accelerated localized early stage immersion. However, inhibition occurred after longer times due product deposition inside pit.

Corrosion Behavior of Tin-Plated Carbon Steel and Aluminum in NaCl Solutions Using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy

The corrosion behavior of both tin-plated carbon steel and aluminum (Al 1100) in NaCl solutions were studied using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The study objectives were to compare their corrosion behavior in concentrated brine solution, establish the equivalent electrical circuit diagrams of their corrosion phenomena, and consequently develop steady-state corrosion models for ...

Measurement and Prediction of Time-independent and Time-dependent Rheological Behavior of Waxy Crude Oil

Wax deposition phenomenon changes the rheological behavior of waxy crude oil completely. In the current work, the rheological time-dependent and time-independent behaviors of waxy crude oil samples are studied and flow curve and compliance function are measured for the oil samples with various wax contents at different temperatures. A decrease in temperature and an increase in wax content lead ...

Characterization of pitting corrosion in aluminum films by light scattering

We report a detailed study of the morphology of pits formed by corrosion of aluminum thin films using an in-plane light scattering technique. We show that the corrosion front of the Al thin film can be treated as a quasi-two-level random rough surface. Based on an elastic diffraction theory, we are able to determine the average depth, the area, and the density of pits, as well as the fractal di...

Investigation of the Effect of Vanillin as a Green Corrosion Inhibitor for Stainless Steel Using Electrochemical Techniques

Vanillin offers interesting possibilities for corrosion inhibition because of its safe use and highsolubility in water. The effect of vanillin on the corrosion inhibition of AISI 304 stainless steel in0.5M H2SO4 solution has been studied using potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemicalimpedance spectroscopy (EIS). Furthermore, this paper demonstrates that the electrochemical noise(EN) tec...
